Our Story

Love Elsy began with two sisters who never stopped making cards for the people they loved.

As they grew up, handmade cards were part of every birthday, holiday, and celebration. Somewhere along the way, it became an unofficial family competition to see whose card would make everyone laugh the hardest or whose would end up displayed the longest. It’s no surprise that those family traditions eventually became Love Elsy.

Meet Emily & Rose

Emily is the artist behind Love Elsy. A professional illustrator and comic artist, she brings her skilled hand and mostly okay mind to each collection. With a charming, expressive art style, she searches for what feels unexpected, delightful, and enticingly dumb. Emily loves to find the knife-edge of something being almost too weird to work.

Rose brings a sharp eye and years of ‘making sure Emily doesn’t do anything too weird’ experience to the partnership. She turns designs into finished products and makes the business run like a business. Every bit of Love Elsy is held to the highest standard by Rose, and growing up, she ensured those uncompromising values rubbed off on Emily too.

Together they bounce ideas, decide what makes the cut, and serve up their silly little designs on a silver platter—with just a sprinkle of cat fur.

Every Love Elsy collection is illustrated by hand in our Philadelphia studio before becoming a greeting card, art print, or gift designed to be shared, displayed, and kept.

As we’ve grown, we’ve remained committed to creating thoughtfully made paper goods with an ongoing focus on sustainability – from responsibly sourced papers and recycled materials to biodegradable sleeves, reused shipping supplies, and continually improving our packaging choices.
